The Twelfth World Congress of the International Economic Association

The Twelfth World Congress of the International Economic Association will take place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on August 23-27, 1999, hosted by the Asociación Argentina de Economía Política (AAEP), who is in charge of the organisation.

The five day technical programme includes plenary sessions, invited sessions and presentation of contributed papers.

Parallel sessions will be held with contributed papers in all areas of Economics, including those of particular interest to Latin America. Invited lectures will cover two topics:

- "Inequality in the World Today", with a programme arranged by Professor Richard Freeman (Harvard, USA)

- "The Current State of Macroeconomics", arranged by Professor Jacques Drèze (CORE, Belgium)

The scientific preparation of the Congress is under the responsibility of the IEA President, Professor Jacques Drèze, who is assisted by an international Programme Committee. The Congress will be dedicated to the memory of Michael Bruno, former president of the IEA.
